Looking for something sweet to do this weekend?
The festival will feature fresh strawberries, homemade cakes, ice cream, strawberry smoothies made by a bicycle-powered blender, run by the Centre Region Bicycle Coalition, and lemonade. Children’s activities will be provided by the Art Alliance of Central PA all afternoon, and pony rides will be available from 5 to 6 p.m. Music from 4 to 6 p.m. will be by OverheaD, playing classic rock and old standards, and music from 6 to 8 p.m. will be by singer/songwriter Ellen Schultz. The festival costs $6 per adult and $3 per child, ages 5-12.
Lemont is the location of Pennsylvania’s only remaining granary, and proceeds from this event will benefit the Lemont Village Association’s Granary Project, which is looking to continue restoring the building and to construct proper rest room amenities and storage space. Tours of the historic granary will be available upon request.
And even though the forecast says there’s a chance of rain this weekend, the festival’s planners are armed with tents to keep you and your berries dry.
