Agencies will see fewer CDBG funds

Nonprofits have been facing tough times over the last few years, and Tuesday it was announced that local organizations that help people find housing will once again face a drop in funding.

The State College Borough annually receives Community Development Block Grants from the government. These funds have been contributed to organizations, such as Housing Transitions, House of Care and the Women’s Resource Center, that help people in need of housing. The Borough received fewer of those grants in 2011 than it did in 2010, and will once again face reductions in 2012.

Lean times like these are what endowments funds like CCCf’s are made for. Endowment funds ensure that every year, no matter what is happening, money will be made available.

The Centre County Community Foundation has endowment funds for the organizations mentioned above. To donate to one of them, go to our donation page and search for a fund that supports an organization you care about!
