Beginning tomorrow, Pennsylvania Certified Organic will hold an inaugural event that will celebrate farming with free workshops, live music and, of course, goods from local farmers.
Farmfest 2012 begins tomorrow (Friday, August 4) at the Grange Fairgrounds, in Centre Hall, and continues through Saturday.
The workshops will cover topics like how to grow produce in a greenhouse, how to attract helpful insects (and repel pests), how to make jam, how to preserve your soil’s health, and more! There will also be activities for kids, like a petting zoo and face painting.
About a half dozen bands will play at various times, including Pure Cane Sugar, Chicken Tractor and Tyne & the Fastlyne, among others.
Dozens of local vendors, some of whom specialize in organic and sustainable products, will take part in the event’s market, and will sell goods as diverse as honey, granola, poultry, lemonade, cocoa, jewelry, books, home decor, and more! A silent auction and a 50/50 raffle featuring items from vendors and local business will be held, with proceeds going to Pennsylvania Certified Organic and the Centre County Women’s Resource Center.
