Did you know that the No. 1 reason nonprofits are sued is because of wrongful termination?
It is essential for a good leader to understand how to manage employees. On Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 5:15 p.m., Leadership Centre County will host a Transformational Leader Series workshop entitled “Managing Employees: 10 Issues of Law and Governance.”
During the workshop, two attorneys will break down the top 10 legal and governance issues facing employers. Tom Schrack and Phil Miles of McQuaide Blasko, in State College, provide a map through the potential minefield of managing employees and governing organizations. They will walk through terminating an employee and cover legal issues such as the risk of employment discrimination lawsuits. They will also cover governance issues ranging from identifying conflicts of interest to governance under bylaws. This program offers practical advice for employers, including nonprofits.
Centre Foundation is proud to sponsor this workshop, which is a must for all nonprofit directors and board members, as well as members of the business community.
The workshop will be held at the Patton Township Municipal Building, and registration costs $15 and can be done online. All are welcome to attend.
